Insider is your real name? I didn't say that Wilder was to blame for only allowing democrats to vote in a Primary. Oklahoma primaries are CLOSED. That means with only democratic candidates running Republicans and Independents have no say. Republicans and Independents only get a primary if they have Two or more candidates running for office, otherwise they cannot participate and the decision is made for them. You really should educate yourself. Did you forget that Wilder was with OKCPD for over 30 years and retired as Police Chief. How many cities can you name where they made the best cop the Chief? There are alot of us who have watched his career over the years even all the way down in Marshall County. But calm down you got him for four more years be happy. But I ask myself, why would a man living in a 300k house on a 10 acre estate in B.C. that receives 80k a year retirement, spend a large amount of his own money to get a job that pays 30k a year? You couldn't handle a debate.Be HAPPY!

Looks like District #1 County Commissioner has been caught. Wonder if the County will remove him from his Postion. You would think some one of that age would be more devoted to the job the people of the county Elected him to do. Now every one should know why THE COUNTY IS IN THE SHAPE IT IS. LOOKS LIKE ITS TIME FOR A NEW COUNTY COMMISSIONER FOR DISTRICT #1 TO REPLACE THIS ONE. UNLESS THIS IS THE TYPE OF PERSON THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTY WANT. GUESS WIL JUST HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE WHAT THEY REALLY WANT.

I guess I have to write realy slow so "From a safe distance" can understand. 1) You are the one who said you were "from a safe distance and not in Marshall County" .. not me, 2) Only the Huff clan would write such garbage as to say Wilder has anyone on his staff with criminal charges or has gotten anyone off anything, and 3) only uneducated and shallow minded people, like the Huff clan, would blame Wilder for only allowing Democrats to vote in a primary election. And, by the way, he received 53% of the total votes cast, with four people running. So, of those who voted, which does not account for the thousands who didn't, they more than support Wilder. SO, where ever you are "Not Marshall County", stay there. We like our Sheriff! I'd love to have a personal debate with you, but of course you will only hide behind an assumed name and stay hidden. That's the way every Huff clan supporter does. I expect nothing less from you!! GO WILDER!!

Insider I think you have become my new hero. Pat yourself on the back. You are totally right. about everything you just said.

How about the article about the District #1 Commissioner. Guess every one knows he was caught in a Harasment Law suit pending being filed with local D.A. How about the Wrongful termanation Law suit that is being filed. You know you have to get rid of those employee once you have been caught. Keep thing Quiet for a WHILE.

You call yourself "Insider" That must mean that you work for wilder or wish you could. If you work for him are you one of the ones he pulled out of trouble? Either way it's obvious that you don't do well with English Comprehension. Let me help. #1. Nowhere did I mention that I supported Frank Huff, It's deeper than that #2. Where did you read that I talked at all about any "Long Distance Thingy" #3. Remember that in Oklahoma only registered DEMOCRATS are allowed to vote in a primary and HALF of them voted for someone else. So remember that you are not supposed to do any of your own figuring in that little head of yours without checking with Bob Wilder first. I would love to get in a war of wits with you but I don't believe in attacking an unarmed person.

Posted by: Insider Location: Marshall County on Aug 4, 2008 at 03:20 PM
Well, well, well, the Huff Clan comes out. If "From a safe distance" knows so much, it must be that long distance thingy he talks so much about. Everyone in Marshall County knows what a great job Bob Wilder has done to restore dignity to this county, as well as, the staff he has on board. That is why Huff did not fit into the plan any longer. Wilder is a great Sheriff and has great people working for him. So, the sore losers come out. So what! Run your mouth as always, but the voters have decided!!

Posted by: From a safe distance Location: Not Marshall County on Aug 3, 2008 at 03:50 PM
Hey BOB WILDER FAN, Don't confuse yourself,There has been several who have dared to either announce that they would run or have filed and ran against Wilder, only to find themselves fired for made up excuses about complainst or inability to perform their duties.Funny how in non election years these same people were exactly the kind of officers Wilder was looking for.And then comes the rumors to discredit these opponents so they won't have a chance, But after lengthy investigations NO CHARGES ARE EVER FILED, NO ARRESTS ARE EVER MADE.You have to stop and realize that a lie can get half way around the world before the TRUTH can get out of it's own backyard. I see that Wilder continues to surround himself with incompitent people that he has pulled out of legal trouble and managed to get no charges filed against them and then lets them be responsible for the safety and welfare of the citizens of Marshall Co. But of course, they owe him big time!Good Luck Marshall Co., 4 more years w/ BOB

HEY DISGUSTED AND CHRISMAN QUIT YOUR CRYING. IF YOU THINK YOU CAN DO BETTER GO FOR IT. GET OFF YOUR BUTTS AND RUN NEXT TIME. YOU PEOPLE ARE PROBABLY JUST MAD BECAUSE MARSHALL COUNTY KNOWS WHO HAS MADE IMPROVEMENTS FOR EVERYONE. WAY TO GO BOB WE LOVE YOU KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Posted by: How about some one honest for commissioner Location: Marshall County on Aug 2, 2008 at 05:47 PM
What a waste of money for the tax payer of marshall county to pay the salary of district 1 commissioner. We will only have to tolerate this until the Recall Petetion comes out to remove him from his elected postion. Its time we had a honest Family Man with real Morall to represent the people of this county, And a commissioner who know something to do with mantaining our roads, What a waste of money so far for the last 2 years.

Hey there Joyce,I can not believe you said this "Mr Brown was not ousted by all employees, just a few whiners with too much power. He made a LOT of much needed progress while he was at the police department, despite the former city manager." Hope that by you posting that comment here about the employees of the Durant Police Department and higher up's that this doesn't cost him some votes. And what kind of progress do you think he actually made other than the progress of proving himself a failure as Police Chief because he was not able to work with his employees and it went alot higher up than just the former city mayor,I think they are the ones that were doing all the good hard work and it was not Roy,So you just go sit yourself down next to Roy and have another drink like you were all doing on the night of the election. And we will see that Sturch is the better man for the job cause at least he has not been asked to leave his department and he gets along with his employees.Anything ELSE?

hey john...the felon was unarmed and main street was full. i guess you wouldnt mind an officer shooting around you and your kids. as for the harassment....you should be ashamed. THAT WAS A LITTLE GIRL...HE IS A 55 YEAR OLD MAN WHO KNOWS BETTER!!!!! i happen to know one of his deputies that he told not to arrest ol' so-and-so. your probably one of them. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!!!! freedom of speech is another of our priviledges. thats why i live in this country!!!! AND GOD BLESS YOU!

No Insider I know what goes on down there because I used to work there!

Posted by: Insider Location: Madill on Jul 31, 2008 at 08:30 AM
Hey Chrisman, go cry with Huff. Oklahoma/Texas? What you can't decide where you're from and you want to tell us who we should have voted for?? I have interacted with the Sheriffs Office numerous times and have found the staff to be very caring and helpful. You must have gone in the withe same attitude you show here, OR .. was IN the jail and the "employees in the jail" had to deal with you as a "client"! Wilder has a great staff and they work hard to protect and serve Marshall County. The citizens saw that and voted the right way. That is why Huff no longer works there!

Posted by: Joyce Location: Bryan Co on Jul 31, 2008 at 07:05 AM
Mr Brown was not ousted by all employees, just a few whiners with too much power. He made a LOT of much needed progress while he was at the police department, despite the former city manager.

You guys are going to wish you wouldn't of reelected Bob Wilder in Marshall County. That place is a joke, just call down there sometime or stop by for a visit. The employees in the jail are a joke and very unprofessional.

Posted by: john Location: coalgate on Jul 30, 2008 at 07:06 PM
Hay Voter from Coalgate. You do not even know what you are talking about. He only fired on shot at a felon that was in a stolen car that took of from him and a pursuit started. The sexual harrassment case was never proven. He has never told who the deputies can arrest or not arrest. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!!!! IF YOU THINK THAT CERTAIN PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE ALOUD TO VOTE THEN YOU NEED TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY. LAST TIME I CHECKED THIS IS THE U.S.A.!!!! GOD BLESS YOU.

Hey there BS, Ever heard of the saying "that the older are wiser" Well what difference does it make of how old you are as long as you can do the job and get it done.Sturch and his deputies worked hard on my case and did not stop til it was solved, and for that I thank them as they went above and beyond their call of duty.Oh and Ron for Colbert, how dare you put down the Under Sheriff that man works hard and goes way out of his way to help anyone in need, he is also from what I have been told involved in the National Gurad and has served our Country as well as our County so what difference does it make what they drive, why judge someone for what they drive does it really matter? No it doesn't.What matters is the fact that Sturch gets along with his employees and others and works together with other departments not against them, and he has not been replaced with a no confidence vote by his fellow employees, where as Roy Brown has.

Posted by: Ron Location: Colbert on Jul 30, 2008 at 05:31 PM
Please don't take the credit for the work of the OSBI, BCSO only destroyed evidence, and this is election time; HAN-SOME Bill please tell the truth. And who was driving the train on May 23, 2007????

Posted by: Ardmoreite Location: Ardmore on Jul 30, 2008 at 05:26 PM
I guess Pat Ownbey finally bought the Ardmoreite in order to get the story off the internet. What is really a laugh is the guy he beat last night was on there too defending Ownby saying to look past his negatives and focus on the positives of Ownbey! That was the best laugh I had today. No wonder Cunningham lost the election, he has no clue about what he's talking about!

Posted by: Tired of BS on Jul 30, 2008 at 04:47 PM
This forum goes to show you that the Sheriff's Office has nothing to do but sit and write comments on KXII.com while at work. Sturch is a moron, plain and simple. We need someone else in office. Besides who in the world wants a 75 year old Sheriff?? It is time to retire Bill!

Posted by: Mr. Anonymous Location: Durant on Jul 30, 2008 at 04:38 PM
Well at least HANDSOME (spellcheck) use it Ron, Bill and his Deputies made sure the lady murderer Tyler was sent to prison, and its MR. Anonymous.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: Durant on Jul 30, 2008 at 01:46 PM
Ron from Colbert, its a 1/2 ton, and uses less gas than the crown vics do. And it does not haul him to the office to sit all day, you are mistaken, that is the UnderSheriff, and he answers calls, serves papers, does transports, and anything else that he is called upon to do. Put your wisdom to use somewhere that it can be useful, is Colbert not looking for a new city manager or some other public office. Sounds like your their type of leader, misinformed and loose-lipped.

sturch is a big prune!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: just here Location: ardmore on Jul 30, 2008 at 12:07 PM
Pat Ownbey must upset about his negative comments. One of my friends who works at the Ardmoreite just called me and said he's whining about all the comments that were posted under his story, there, so they deleted them. From what I could see, they were just facts. We need John Moore in office for Distirct 48, not Pat Ownbey who has shown his true colors!

Posted by: Ron Location: Colbert on Jul 30, 2008 at 11:51 AM
You are right FRANK; Hansom Bill has not took responsibility for his Good-Buddy Jail Administrator that on May 23, 2007 released a prisoner that went directly and Murdered someone, Mr. Sturch was driving the train that night; and yes his staff is worthless, one has to have a 4 door 1 ton Gas Guzzling truck to haul him to the office to set all day. Also, hansom Bill is to snobbish to even speak to a Tax Payer; Mr. brown we are behind you 100% in the runoff, Thank's SIR for volunterring to provide the Citizens of Bryan County with a Profesional Trained Law Enforcement Administrator.

Posted by: Impressed Location: OK on Jul 30, 2008 at 10:59 AM
Just checked out that information on Pat Ownbey. The poster is correct. He has done these things. It is public record and he did do what the poster claims. Now, granted I'm not a Pat Ownbey fan, and I'm happy to see his short-comings be exposed! There are a lot more negatives on this man that haven't come out, and hopefully they will so District 48 can choose a good candidate, which in this case is John Moore!

Posted by: Danny Location: Madill on Jul 30, 2008 at 09:25 AM
I'M SO GLAD BOB WAS RE-ELECTED. HE HAS DONE MORE FOR MARSHALL COUNTY AS SHERIFF THAN ANY SHERIFF BEFORE HIM. I THINK THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN A GREAT WHILE THAT THE SHERIFF'S RACE HASN'T GONE TO A RUNOFF. GREAT WORK SHERIFF, KEEP IT UP.

Posted by: Frank Location: Colbert on Jul 30, 2008 at 09:11 AM
You can tell the employees are the ones writing the "AGAINST ROY BROWN" comments. if you people were honest tax payers you would stand up for what is right...tell the public what is really going on in the office of the Sheriff. Why is his Captain sitting in the office doing nothing and deputies having to come in and answer calls ...The only thing i agree with is YES, Mr. Sturch has brought us far from the days of the B.J. Moore days...but you have served your purpose and you are NOT holding your deputies accountable for their action. WAKE up people ! ! !

Posted by: Disgusted Location: Marshall County on Jul 30, 2008 at 08:58 AM
Good job "Wilder" my butt. He is the lamest "desk sheriff" any county could have. Every ad he put our only showed what improvements he had made for himself - himself - himself. Face it - he hired Frank Huff, which shows what bad judgment he has. I just wasn't sure if I should vote for Adams or Wren. They should have run together. I voted for Donald because of the help he has been to my family. "Mr." Watts cost Dale votes. You can go by and see Wilder - at any diner in the Enos/Buncombe area. He doesn’t stray too far from home. By the way "Danny" congratulations - doesn't have a "D" in it. Are you one of Wilder's Deputies? Sheesh

Congradulations Bill Sturch for a job well done in our past years and in the years to come. Keep up the great work.

Way to go Bob Wilder!! Thank God the good citizens of Marshall County didn't vote for Frank Huff. He can't even keep his kids out of jail or manage his own money. What made his supporters believe he could manage the county? I am so proud of these citizens for doing the right thing. Run Huff out of town, he's not wanted here! GO WILDER!!! Congratulations Marshall County!!

What gets me is that in Carter County, only 3680 people voted for sheriff. I know there are more dems out there than that. And I believe the voter laws should be changed. If the only candidates running are of one party, then everyone should get to vote.

Posted by: Love Countian Location: Marietta on Jul 30, 2008 at 05:33 AM
Congratulation Joe Russell for your winning the Sheriff race. Keep up the good work. Love County knew what they needed to do and it showed with this election. Eat your apples Mike. Maybe you should have been more friendlier when you had your chance in Law Enforcement.

WELL I THINK THAT THE PEOPLE OF HEALDTON THAT WANTED TO KEEP THE 911 SYSTEM SHOULD GET THEIR PHONE BILL INCREASED. MAKE THEM PAY TO HAVE IT UPDATED, SO THEIR CORRECT ADDRESS WILL SHOW UP IF THEY EVER NEED A AMBULANCE. YOU PEOPLE THAT VOTED TO KEEP IT....WHERE DO YOU THINK THE CITY WILL GET THE MONEY TO UPGRADE THE SYSTEM? THEY ARE HAVING A HARD TIME PAYING THE LIGHT BILL AND PAYING THEIR WORTHLESS EMPLOYEES THEY HAVE THERE! I CANT BELIEVE YOU FOLKS WOULD ACTUALLY FIGHT TO KEEP IT. IT IS WORTHLESS, THE COUNCIL HAS EVEN SAID THAT!! LETS HOPE IF YOU NEED A AMBULANCE, YOU ARE CAPABLE OF TELLING THE DISPATCHERS WHERE YOU ARE BECAUSE IF YOU CANT TELL THEM, THEN YOU WONT GET ONE! THIS IS REALLY SAD! THANKS CITIZENS OF HEALDTON!!

In any organization, the chain is only as strong as its weakest link. In this case, the weakest link is at the top. Leaders are not born, they are developed through education, experience and training. And Bill Sturch has accomplished this by being the Sheriff of Bryan County for several years now. He has the education, experience, and training to be our Sheriff. Not too long ago we were faced with many escapes while the jail was under a "Jail Trust Authority",That left many of us citizens begging and pleading to allow Mr.Sturch and his deputies to take back the jail. Why,Well maybe it was because we felt more safe when it was under his control and also the fact that we knew, that he knew what to do to prevent this chain of escapes from happening as well as knowing how to run and operate the jail and the Sheriffs Department at the same time. So wouldn't it be right for us to choose the candidate based on his merits, his platforms, intelligence or ability to be a good leader,in general.I hope that many of you will understand that most of those that are backing Roy Brown are that same ones that put this county in the mess it was in back when the "Jail Trust Authority" was developed. So I ask you this do we really want to go through this again, and face the consquences of someone getting hurt seriously if another escape were to happen, or would it not be in our best interest and the interest of our families to sleep save at night knowing that Sturch and his deputies are looking over us.

Good work? where have you been living? under a rock. i guess you didn't see him unload his service pistol down main street a few years ago. or maybe you are one of the numerous drunk drivers or druggies he has let go or told his deputies to leave alone. or how about the sexual harassment of the 18 yr old in his office. WAKE UP!!!!! its people like you that shouldn't have the right to vote.

OMG,I can not believe that people actaully voted for Roy Brown for Sheriff of Bryan County. Is he going to sell his van to get more money to run the county, LOL.Well Brown don't waste your time putting a for sale sign on it cause it has been a laughing stock of the city,I think people would not laugh so hard if you were representing a business but to campaign for something. At least the other two campaigned fairly and respectfully.Ever had one of those annoying salesman come to your door and you just wished they would go away. Well I heard from many that is the way they felt when they saw your van rolling down the streets.Oh and if you couldn't do your job right at the Police Department what would make one think you could do better at the Sheriffs Department?

I can not believe that there is going to be a run off between Sturch and Brown. The citizens of Bryan County need to understand that Roy Brown would not a make a good Sheriff, heck he could not even make a good Chief of Police for those of you who remember that not to long ago his fellow employees all gave him a vote of no confidence and therefore he was replaced.I have lived in this town for many years and a respectful citizen.I have even set a table away from Brown while he was campaigning for Sheriff,I over heard him making promises and telling stories of the changes he would make if he were to be elected,He is so full of himself. How does he plan on doing all the things he said he would at the speaking on the court house lawn, where is he going to get the money for all the things he is saying he will do,Oh and raisig our taxes won't cut it.Mr.Brown some of us are on a tight budget and can't afford that. And if your fellow employees did not want you what makes you think we do.

Just wondering why KXII won't post my comments about Pat Ownbey, it's all a matter of public record what a crook he is. Just look it up on odcr.com under AM & PM, you can see for yourself. HE REFUSED TO ACCEPT A SUMMONS AND THEN PAID OUT A SETTLEMENT.... ALL THE TRUTH... FACTS.... PUBLIC RECORD... POST THIS KXII SO SOUTHERN OKLAHOMA CAN SEE WHAT PAT OWNBEY'S REALLY ALL ABOUT!!

Here's you some info on Pat Ownbey.... He likes to fire people while they're off having surgery. It's all a matter of public record... you can see it on odcr.com. It was when he was with AM & PM Broadcasting. You will see where he refused to accept a summons and still had to pay out a BIG FAT settlement. Now, there's a great candidate... one who fires the disabled. EVERYONE - VOTE FOR JOHN MOORE.... HE'S MOST DEFINITELY YOUR BEST CANDIDATE!! Don't let the Greg Piatt wannabe's get in office, we see how well he manages things, he can't even manage his own family! His son is in jail, you can see that on Carter County Sheriff's Dept. website.

Congrads to Russ Tate , New Sheriff in Town!

Careful there, Southern Oklahoma, may want to reconsider on the Pat Ownbey issue, he likes to fire people while they're off having surgery (considered a disability) and then he gets sued and has to pay out a BIG FAT settlement.... HMMMMM.... Not someone I would want in office for my district!!
