DENVER (AP) - Democrats are poised to formally declare Barack Obama the first black presidential nominee of a major party.

While the historic outcome is certain, suspense remains over how the vote by delegates will proceed, and for how long.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is the presiding officer of the Democratic National Convention. She predicts that the roll-call voting after the names of both Obama and one-time rival Hillary Rodham Clinton are put in nomination will go "very smoothly."

However, many details remain unknown, including how many states will vote before somebody -- probably Clinton herself -- asks the delegates to give the nomination to Obama by acclamation.

Clinton plans to meet with all her delegates this afternoon and is expected to make a statement at that time.

Obama is due to arrive in Denver today. He will give his acceptance speech tomorrow to as many as 75,000 people at nearby Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium.

NOBama, I'll bet you can't think of one thing that Obama has even mention. I noticed you don't cite any issues, you just regurgitate the standard redneck GOP lines. Heck...use go ahead and use google, then get back to us.

I agree with NObama. It is time to let the REAL Americans run this nation again. Get rid of all of you redneck European based scum and the Asians and Africans and everyone who wasn't orginally of this land. It is time for the Choctaw, Apache, Cherokee and all others to rise up and reclaim this land and run this country as it should be done.

OOTO, you sound like one of those liberal hippie sellouts of the 1960's. Go smoke you smack with Hussein NObama and let the real Americans run this country for you! Cause you see, NObama lives in a fantasy world if he thinks he can change things like he says he can, now that I think about it, he may be still smoking his stash if he says and believes all the garbage he spills out!

Nobama...I would say something witty like "you can't be serious," but I know that, sadly, you are. First, who cares if he is Muslim or Jewish or Christian or Bhuddist or Hindu or Bahai or anything else? This country is founded on religious freedom! Have you forgotten that in all of your piousness? The people who are allowing private interests, such as big oil companies, into American politics are the only ones selling out this nation's interest for their own greed. (Look at how much the Bush family has raked in over the past 8 years.) And to deny any citizen of this country his birthright is completely callous and uncalled for. The only thing that we agree on is your comment "the devil comes in many forms." One of the biggest forms is those people like yourself who spread lies, live in prejudice, and hate all that is different from what they feel it should be.

Yeah, Fozzy, and I am sure that when you voted for Dubya it was because of all the experience he had. At least Obama has had experience at both the state and federal level, something Dubya could never claim. At least Obama got accepted into law school where he graduate Magna Cum Laudi, whereas Dubya got rejected from every law school he ever applied for, and graduated from Yale with a sorry 2.35 GPA. I find it odd that now all of the conservative faction are suddently screaming about experience, when their poster child of the new millenium had absolutely no experience himself. What hypocrites!

I am not prejudice at all, but this idoit does not need to be the president, and McCain does not either

Hey ME, how do you know that he has a problem with the white race.

I am not voting for this muslim claiming to a Christian. He's a pretend to be Christian in order to get elected. It's sad so many Americans are willing to sell out there own county by voting for this guy. To me, he's only half American and that's through his mother. Remember the devil comes in different forms!

This guy doesn't have enough real world experience to tie his own shoes. 143 days in the senate is hardly enough to make someone experienced enough to be the leader of the free world.

So how is it that they call him black when he's only really half black. It's kinda funny that he has a problem with the white race but yet he seems to forget that one of his parents is white.
