We're kicking around the idea of starting a segment devoted to the great outdoors at KXII. Think hunting expeditions, trips on Lake Texoma with striper guides, or maybe even a feature on a favorite Texoma walking or hiking trail.

But we need your help. We need suggestions.

So, what would you like to see in an outdoors segment on KXII? Email your ideas to josh.stevenson@kxii.com or leave a comment on this post.

Isn't that Fish & Game Forecast good for bird watching and other things other than just fishing and hunting?

Lake Texoma has the reputation of being a "great sailing" lake, yet with the hundreds of avid sailors who call this lake their "homeport", there seems to be little discussion about sailing conditions, places to cove for a weekend or places to avoid for those who may not be familiar with the lake. I would welcome the opportunity to be the provider of such information if your station has an interest in a segment devoted to the above. Perhaps a weekly update turning the spotlight on a new discovery or other information that may be of interest to the large sailing community on this lake. Cheers Rob

WOULD LOVE TO SEE A SHOW ABOUT THE OLD SHARECROPPER HOUSES ON THE TISHOMINGO NAT WILDLIFE REFUGE. HISTORY OF THAT AREA, INDIAN SCHOOL, DECLINE OF THE BIG FARMS, LAKE TEXOMA CUMBERLAND DAMS BUILT IN THE 30S, AND EFFECTS OF THE NEW WASHITA RIVER CHANNEL CUT IN 1957? 56?. THE NUMBER AND TYPE OF MIGRATORY BIRDS SPENDING THE WINTER THERE. THIS AREA HAS A DOZEN GOOD STORIES WAITING TO BE WROTE. SOME OF THE CEMETERYS IN THIS AREA ARE AMOUNG THE OLDEST IN INDIAN TERRITORY. AT THE CONDON GROVE CEMETERY OUTSIDE OF MILBURN THERE ARE FIVE LITTLE BOYS, FOUR DIED THE SAME DAY AND THE FIFTH A MONTH OR SO LATER. MY MOTHER TOLD ME THEY DIED IN A TRAIN WRECK. I ALWAYS MAKE A POINT TO GO TO THEIR GRAVES AND PAY HOMAGE TO THE HEARTBREAK THEIR FAMILY SUFFERED.

Striper Fishing, Bass Tournements being held at the lake. What marinas offer what, when and where. Sailing conditions...dining out locations on the lake!

Well you could still do an outdoor segment without the killing but let's face it this is hunting country lol! I agree it would be boring to some like myself but you would prob get a lot of attention from hunters, fishers, etc. Now the part about the hiking trails would be awesome. I love to take my kids to lake murray and just go walking on trails. My grandpa did tht with me when I was a kid and I couldn't get enough of it. So maybe some about where to go would be great. Get some kids and families out of the house and off the couch :)

agreed with shawn. no outdoors segments please, you already have the sportsman, the outdoorsman, you really don't need more 'outdoors' programming. i am a fan of birds, such as doves, geese, swans, and ducks. ...none of which should be ever looked at as 'food'. it is sickening that the 'charity' ducks unlimited is run by hunters. if you must add more ''outdoor'' content, please keep it at a minimum. thank you. -bryan m.

Listen, can we PLEASE keep the killing of defenseless animals down to a minimum? First, that's unbelievably boring to watch during a news cast. Second, how does that help the overall image of the station? "Yeah we're a reliable news source, but we just can't help blowing off a duck's head with a 10 gauge every now and then..." Come on, you guys are better than that. I hope.

I think you should put Lisanne in hip waders and make her go noodling!
