sullySometimes, the news business is tough. Like when every story you're covering seems to deal with innocent children victimized by the actions of others. I'm not going to reference them specifically, but if you look around the top stories on our web channel, you'll get the point I'm trying to make.

And then there was Sully. Captain C.B. "Sully" Sullenburger skillfully guided a U.S. Airways Airbus A-320 into the Hudson River after both engines failed and scoured the plane to make sure every single passenger was off the aircraft before he exited. All 155 people on board survived the frigid waters.

All a calm Sullenburger said to his passengers during the ordeal was, "Brace for impact."

New York's governor, David Paterson, referred to the incident as "the miracle on the Hudson."

It turns out the pilot is a native of Denison, Texas.

And that should make us all proud.

This native Texoman and Denison High School graduate truly warrants the title of "hero."

Thank you to all the people who had a hand in shaping, teaching, and being a part of Mr. Sullenburger's upbringing. You all had a hand in this man's heroic actions Thursday.

I'm sure those 155 passengers and their families extend their gratitude as well.
