One would guess you have to go into this blood-fest with the right mindset. If you're expecting Gladiator or Braveheart, you'd be disappointed. Think equal amount those, subtract historical accuracy, and add a splash of Kill Bill and you've got 300.
It was only at the urging of a friend that the viewer should see the action at the theater as opposed to on his couch of her couch that I went and saw it. After seeing it at the theater, it's hard to argue with the fact that this is a film that was made to be seen on the big screen. It probably won't be the same on DVD, unless you've got a serious, hi-tech setup.
The story is a famous one, and, to be frank, this movie is not really concerned with plot.
The fight scenes are what you've heard about, and they are equally violent as they are unique.
The cinematography is also noticeably majestic.
