Rick Dean, Vice President and General Manager for KXII-TV/12 Media/FOX Texoma announced the hiring of Tom Crespo as co-anchor of the Monday thru Friday evening newscasts on First News (CBS-Channel 12.1). Crespo will join co-anchor Maureen Kane on the air on January 3, 2011. “I’m pleased to have someone of Tom’s caliber joining our top-rated news team. Tom comes to us from Dallas, Texas, where he co-anchored the news on WB 33 News at Nine for ten years,” Dean said. Crespo, was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and is a graduate of LSU with a degree in Journalism. Crespo began his career in Meridian, Mississippi, with stops in Tallahassee, Florida, Augusta, Georgia and Jacksonville, Florida. Tom is married to his wife, Kandice, and has two sons, Alex and Chris. “I’m excited about the opportunity, especially at KXII, one of the most respected stations in Texas. The Sherman/Denison area has always been on my family’s radar as an area that offers the kind of lifestyle suited for raising our children in Texoma,” Crespo says. “When I left Tribune, I vowed not to drag my family halfway across the country. Both of my sons were born in Texas, so the prospect of leaving was unacceptable.” The move to KXII reunites Crespo with newly-appointed News Director Anthony Maisel, who joined the staff last week. “Tom and I worked in Jacksonville, and when I moved to the Tribune station in Dallas, I asked Tom to join the team,” Maisel says. “Tom is a top-notch anchor and reporter, and he and Maureen will make a great team on the anchor desk. Tom is dedicated to the community and will be a tremendous asset to our team. I’m very pleased to be working with him again.” Dean says the real winner in bringing Crespo on board will be the news viewers of Texoma. “Our goal is to serve our communities covering local news and to continue our commitment to Texoma and surrounding areas. With Tom and Maureen, the station’s news just got better, but more importantly the community we service will be the winners.” Crespo has covered stories ranging from the devastating tornado that ravaged Fort Worth in 2000 to the breakup of the space shuttle Columbia over Texas in 2003. |
