Today we begin our annual partnership with Texoma Toys for Tots to make sure every child gets something under the tree at Christmas time. Starting today, we will broadcast live every Tuesday and Friday until Christmas at the Sherman and Ardmore Wal-Mart stores to collect your donations of new, unwrapped toys.
It's a tough year for the Texoma Marine Corps League, who runs the operation every year. Last month we lost the heart and soul of Toys for Tots in Texoma, Barry Stephens, better known as "Big Steve." A decorated Marine who received a Purple Heart while serving in the Korean War, Big Steve worked tirelessly for the past 15 years as the point man for Toys for Tots, and for us here at KXII.
Now his wife, Jacquie, and his comrades at the Marine Corps League are keeping his legacy alive by dedicating this year's campaign to Big Steve. And so are we.
So please help us reach our goal of 30,000 toys in Sherman and 15,000 toys in Ardmore by donating a new, unwrapped toy to us when you see the live truck at Wal-Mart or to one of these drop off locations.
