Being the Weather Authority means letting you know when severe weather threatens and when lesser weather conditions can affect your day. That's why we're adopting something new here at News 12.
Soon you'll hear our meteorologists refer to Weather Aware Days and Weather Alert Days. These are days you should pay extra attention to the weather.
A Weather Aware Day means you should be ready for inconvenient weather. What's that mean? These are things that can affect your day, but are not considered a serious weather threat. Rain, windy conditions, humidity, fog, extreme heat, and extreme cold are examples of criteria for a Weather Aware Day.
A Weather Alert Day is a day you should be ready for severe weather. This includes severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, hail, damaging winds, winter storms, and floods. This will work as a "call to attention" to our staff, and hopefully, you the viewer too. Stay with News 12, the Weather Authority, and the power of Doppler 12 on the air and online on Weather Alert Days for the latest information. It could save your life!
