There's not nearly as much last second drama in the Texas season, compared to what we had last week with the end of regular season play in Oklahoma. Most playoff spots are settled with just some seeding on the line on Friday night, with one exception.
The Whitesboro Bearcats need to beat Celina to get into the playoffs, and even with that, they need Pilot Point to lose to Frisco Wakeland (who has already clinched a playoff spot). If Pilot Point wins, they're in. Celina is the district champ, Wakeland is runner-up. Both Pilot Point and Whitesboro have a shot, and add Prosper to that list as well. If both Pilot Point and Whitesboro lose in the final week, the Eagles could leap over both to grab that final playoff spot. with a win over Bonham. That could happen, and Prosper is counting on it.
Obviously, we've discussed that Denison and Sherman are out. Rider, Ryan and Wichita Falls will represent 5-4A.
Gunter is headed to the playoffs as district champ. Pottsboro and Whitewright are in. All three will play what amounts to meaningless games on Friday.
Valley View has won their district. Lindsay and Collinsville will decide 2nd and 3rd on Friday.
Melissa, Farmersville, and Aubrey are headed to the playoffs in 13-2A. The first two mentioned will settle the district title head to head on Friday.
Argyle, Bridgeport, and Decatur get the nod in 8-3A. Gainesville will stay home for the second year in a row.
So as you can see, outside of 9-3A, there won't be much drama on Friday night.
