As the NFL Network-Cable dispute goes forward (or backward), there is only one real loser... the fans. Because of the NFL's tough stance against cable and the pending kickoff between the Cowboys and Packers, many fans (most fans) will be unable to see the game. That is especially true around here where die-hard Cowboys fans make up most of the Texoma landscape. If you do not have NFL Network, and live in Grayson County, or anywhere in Oklahoma, you will not be able to see the game. KDFI will carry the game in the Dallas television market, which still includes Fannin and Cooke County. But the game will be blacked out on KDFI in Grayson County, even though it shows up on channel 2 on Cable One every other day of the week and hour of the day. This dispute has become ridiculous. At this point it doesn't matter whose side you're on. Because this is a lose-lose situation. I think the NFL needs to lighten up on it's demands from cable. Not everyone wants to anti-up for a higher cable bill just to see the Cowboys or any other team once or twice a year. The league needs to realize that the fans are the one's suffering, not the cable providers. The NFL seems to have forgotten who made their game even worthy of putting on television, let alone their own network. Let me remind them, it's you, the fan. David Reed KXII Sports |

Get your facts straight. NFL is one of the most expensive per sub channels there is. ESPN gets that nod. Cable companies, the smaller ones, are going to lose money on their basic package if they have to offer NFL there and can't teir it. So the NFL is saying screw the little guy and their customers. All you here in the news is about the big cable companies, but think of the little guy that doesn't get the price breaks for having 10000 or more subs. The NFL is greedy not the cable companies.
Posted by: denowt Location: victoria The reason the cable companies are figting this is because it will NOT be free on the basic package as the NFL wants it. The NFL is asking for an enormous amount of money from the cable operators which will be passed on to the customer. The cable companies want to put it on a sports tier, so that only the customers who want to watch it will be forced to pay for it instead of everyone. The NFL has major ties to DirecTV which is one the reasons this started in the first place. Do a little research before simply blaming the cable companies. Posted by: soonerfan hey just go by a dish its alot cheeper then having cable one..and u have alot more channels with the dish. Posted by: 400 lb Gorilla Location: Sherman Of course they'll broadcast the game. Even if they're fined, it's still cheaper than losing customers to DishNet & DTV. The fact is that the cable companies including Time Warner and Comcast are trying to make a profit off the NFL network by putting the channel on a higher priced premium or sports tier. The NFL and the NFL Network says is should be free of charge by including it in the Basic Package, whether it's on Cable or Satellite. The Cable industry just got gready, and they want a piece of the pie. And Oh by the way....Go Cowboys. (thats just my opinion...I could be wrong) Hey...HornsFan14, Get the facts straight. JJ has been trying to work the deal. Again, the cable industry got gready. Do your research before mouthing. And for you "David", it's simple...Don't charge to watch the NFL network and they're wouldn't be an issue. Wouldn't you agree longhornfan??? (of course thats just my opinion....I could be wrong) Posted by: HornsFan14 Location: Sherman Well said. And the man at the forefront of the NFL's flat-out attack on the cable companies is none other than Jerry Jones. He's supposed to be getting a deal done between the NFL and cable, but all I've heard recently is a man who sounds like a walking advertisement for satellite TV. It's a shame, too. This ought to be the game of the year in the NFC. Posted by: guest Location: unknown What is next NFL pay per view? oh thats right NFL sunday ticket! Maybe the satellite companies are doing to much. Posted by: longhornfan susan...everybody is not going to stop watching dallas. i think it's great that the nfl network is doing this. it's the cable companies that don't want to pony up and offer it at no extra charge. you shouldn't feel sorry for the cable companies. it's pretty much a monopoly in every town. if you you want the nfl network, and your cable company refuses to offer it to you, get satellite. it's that simple. Posted by: Chris Location: Sherman "They wasn't all that great last year, and we stuck by them." Posted by: Susan Location: Grayson I think that the NFL should reconsider. It's one thing to do this to the Super Bowl , but to a regular game. What would they do if EVERYONE just stoped watching Dallas. They wasn't all that great last year, and we stuck by them. So when they are doing good it cost the fans more. Thats wrong. Posted by: longhornfan it's business. the nfl has a product people want. you can get the nfl network on dish network. and if the cable companies play ball, they'd carry the nfl network and not charge people to see it. they SHOULD carry it because the NFL is huge and fans, myself included, are considering dropping cable and getting dish network so we can get the nfl network. anyway, the longhorns were pathetic last week letting the aggies beat them. 2 year in a row! this is the biggest game of the year and mack brown gets out coached by a guy that's going out the door?! what the heck! |
