I can't say that I was ever on board with the trade of Jason Kidd from the start. Something about giving up a promising 24 year old point guard and two 1st round draft picks for a guy that's almost as old as I am, is troubling to me. However, after hearing that Dirk was involved in getting him here, I yield to the guy that needs to be on board with the deal. Dirk needs to believe the team can win. If that means getting Jason Kidd in here, so be it.
I won't be in a hurry to judge Kidd on the disappointing first effort that netted him 8 points, 6 rebounds and... gulp... 5 assists. It will take time for this team to gel. Afterall, Kidd doesn't know the playbook yet. Josh Howard isn't totally healthy. Stack isn't in the lineup. And this team needs to get to know each other a little more. All that to say, I'm not pushing the panic button yet. But if this thing isn't turned around in about 30 days, it's time to start looking to Cowboys training camp.
