There are obviously a lot of changes the Mavericks must make during what figures to be a long and busy offseason. They must start at the top. Avery has lost this team. Now it must lose Avery. The Mavericks need a new direction, and while it may not all be Avery's fault, he has failed to push any of the right buttons. The Mavericks were completely underwhelming in a season of high expectations. Turns out the first round flame-out to Golden State wasn't a fluke, it was a sign of things to come. Avery pushed for the Kidd trade. It didn't work. This team became older and slower. It mortgaged the future for a first round playoff exit. Avery finally got the point guard he always wanted, and then couldn't figure out how to use him.
I like the Jason Kidd-Dirk Nowitzki combo. Those two should stay. As for everyone else? Noone's job is safe. And that stars with the "Little General".
