I wish I could say I am overwhelmingly excited about the Mavs potential hire of Rick Carlisle, but let's face it, it's a boring choice. It's not Mark Cuban's style to go the safe, retread route, but he will this time. Barring a dramatic change of momentum, it appears the job will go to Carlisle. Let's hope he will at least get rid of Avery's "stand around and watch Dirk on the iso" offense. I'm guessing we'll see more of a motion offense with a continued emphasis on defense, should Carlisle get the gig.
Mike D'Antoni would be a great hire. I think he could get the most out of Jason Kidd, who make no mistake, is here to stay. The Mavs continue to believe they can win with Kidd. I'm just not convinced they can do that without an emphasis on an up-tempo style of play.
This team needs alot of work. I just hope the next coach is up to the challenge, and perhaps unrealistic expectations by an owner itching for a trophy that may or may not be able to be won by this current group of players.
