Playoff Time!!

The high school football playoffs are about to begin. Several Texoma teams will try to keep their season alive on Thursday/Friday/Saturday night. After the battle of the axe, Sherman and Denison both have to quickly put the big game behind them. The Jackets take on Royse City. Sherman plays J.J. Pearce. Both teams have an excellent chance to advance to the 2nd round. Durant gets a tough draw going to El Reno. And despite losing only one game, Plainview has to go on the road in the opening round. Go ahead and post your thoughts on the post-season. Who has the best chance to play beyond Thanksgiving? Davis? Sulphur? Celina? Denison? Sherman? Should be quite a ride.

**Editor's Note: I think Gunter will have a tough matchup in round 2 against Pilot Point. If they can clear the Bearcats, they could make a run, but that's easier said than done. Whatever happens, Jake Fieszel has done a great job replacing all 11 starters on offense to get his team a district title and a good spot in the bracket. First, they have to beat Prairiland! - DR

“How bout those Thackerville Wildcats” 13 – 0 for the first time in SCHOOLS HISTORY! From 0 – 10 four years ago to 13 – 0. Excellent turn around! They won 10 out of 13 games by the Mercy Rule (45 points). Stats are just a shad over average – Not much to write home about or even help the kids with scholarship. But again MERCY RULE! If you only play a half of a football game, take those numbers and double it! Now that’s some stats! FREE GIFT – Now I’ve revitalized your interest! I give perks to the town of Thackerville and surrounding communities. Ok last but not least! We need something new to talk about! It’s been waaaay too long since we scratched the surface in the payoffs! And now were here! I’m scratching harder than the poison ivy I got last week at deer camp! Now that’s some scratching! Thank God for the group of young men leading our football team this year. They have taken us farther than we ever dreamed. And HUGE props to Coach Cody McCage. He has made us proud and were glad to call him our coach. He has made these boys winners. Go WildCats!! Win State!!

The Grandview Zebras depend on their star QB, Reid Golson #10, for offense. He leads the team in rushing and passing and he is a very accurate passer when there is no pressure. But the Pottsboro defense understands pressure and are capable of bringing the heat. Shut down #10 and you shut down the offense. I believe the Cardinals pull this one off 39-36.

probably the only team still left in the post season not mentioned on here and has got hardly any credit from kxii this season is the Thackerville Wildcats. Just because they are an 8 man team doesnt exclude them as a Texoma Team. Them boys have played their guts out and kicked alot of tail along the way and are due some recongition. Go Wildcats!!!

I am going to have to agree with Jman. Pottsboro gets little to no talk from the press be it the great football team they have or the Lady Cards Volleyball team which are going to the state tournament. What's going on?

I would like to congratulate the Players of the Sherman High School Football team. There is some very good talent on this team. I have NO PERSONAL issues against any of the coaching staff, but Guys you are done. It's time to move on. Change! We have not improved at all in several years with very talented young men. It appears that we are not prepared at any given game. When the kids are so confused from the beginning of the game and have to spend a timeout, its bad coaches. Friday night in Richardson was hard to watch. Some of the plays are so fare fetched it is just heart breaking. I feel so sorry for the kids sake. OUR COACHING STAFF NEEDS AN OVERHAUL. Coach Young is ill and I pray for his health. Parents and friends this Staff is DONE! Friday night's game looked like we did not want to be there and was just going through the motion.

I think Gunter will represent their district well ,Melissa had a tough first round loss;but the Tomcats should have invited Honey Grove or The Tigers of Leonard to represent them against the Brahams.Leonard has the best 1-2 punch in the backfield in this area,and that D-line anchored by the Daniels kid should be still playing.This kid comes from a family of athletes and he is young!

Thanks for your reply David. I think you are very right. I do believe Pilot Point will be a tough matchup but we should be able to play good against them and any other team. We will just have to wait and see... May I get Mark's thoughts on my previous comment?

No one gives Pottsboro any respect there 8-1 they lost to number 2 in state pilot point. They should have won that game they played 1 minute of bad football. Pottsbor will go a long ways.
