OU or UT?

The BCS could be a total mess.  For now, Texas is 2nd, and OU is 3rd.  Is that the way it should be?  Is that the way it will stay if OU beats OSU?  There's an argument to be made both ways.  For Texas the argument is simple:  The Longhorns beat the Sooners head to head on a neutral field.  For the Sooners, it's a bit more involved.  They would say:  OU is playing better football right now.  They hammered a Tech team that beat Texas just two weeks prior.  They would argue that nobody is playing better at the end of the season and they are much improved from the October 11th meeting with Texas.

I'm not sure which side of the fence I fall on.  But I bet there are some opinions out there.  I'll wait until I see these two games this weekend before I decide.

Hey Texas! Want Some CHEESE?

Posted by: Mack Location: Cries
Mack deserves it. One day he will figure out that playing UNT and Rice does not help him in the end. He should schedule TCU and Boise State. That would help in several departments, it would raise his strength of schedule and shut the people from Idaho up.

neither one of em... Florida will win it all Tebow deserves to win the championship and the heisman... just face the facts he's the best in the NCAA no one can stop him i cant wait for him to get to the NFL so he can show everyone how a dual threat QB actually looks

Jeremy, your argument fails to take into consideration home field advantage. Texas was the only team in the tiebreak that didn't get a home game against the others. It doesn't matter how they did against OSU. If you want to play that game, Texas beat Kansas by 28 in Lawrence while OU only beat them by 14 in Norman. Rethink your argument.

Posted by: JMD The rules are the rules, whether you agree with them or not. If UT wants to be playing for the Big 12 champ. and the National Title, they should have beaten Texas Tech. I can honestly understand the argument for both OU and UT. It's a tough one to call. However, unless you're undefeated, don't going crying about it. You want to put all discussion to a rest, then go out and beat Texas Tech. UT did not do that, so what's the use in crying about it?

hate to admit it, but while OU and UT have same records, and UT beat OU...OU destroyed the team that beat UT. and they beat OSU by 20 while UT beat them by only 4. add to that the fact that OU's opponents are more impressive and it's clear that OU is the top team in the big 12

I know you Texas fans are still cryin but yal shouldv beat Tech and maybe if yal wouldv beat OSU in Austin by more than 4 points yal would still be ahead in the rankings. ANd "NO Class Stoops?" Are u serious? Stoops didnt even vote in the coaches poll and neither did his brother Mike if your wondering. Oklahoma does all their talk on the field. Mack Brown is the one with no class. He wines more than most of yal fans. Oklahoma deserves to be #2 the way they've been playin the past few weeks. And OU runs up the score on lesser teams later in the season? I dont know bout you but I dont consider Tech and OSU "lesser" teams. So keep flyin your 45-35 banners if you want but we're gona be in the national championship game. So keep cryin Texas fans...

It makes no difference when a team wins in a season. Texas beat Oklahoma soundly. "No class Stoops" just runs the score up on lesser teams at the end of the season no matter how he humilates the other team. That's a great character builder for our young athletics. Coach Mack Brown has chacter that perhaps Stoops should learn from him.

Texas still beat OU so if a computer thinks a big win at home is more than a great win on a neutral field, then more power to them. By the way, Jason White did real good in the NFL. ha

OU did it. So texas take your lil 45-35 signs and stick them where the sun doesn't shine. Cuz it didn't work haha. Go Sooners!!

HAHAHAHA!! Looks like the Longhorns will be crying tonight....poor Mack will be doing more whining also!

OU should be higher thats all i have to say

Posted by: Anonymous Well I have to say that OU is the better team at this point and time. It is sad to say that we leave it up to some computer geeks to decided who goes where. The geeks probably don't know a thing about football but yet they are going to probably put Texas in the Big 12 title and put them in nc game but they will lose in the nc game. Plus everybody keeps talking about Colt Mccoy for heisman that is great but he will be another Texas quarterback and not do crap in the pros just like every other Texas quarterback. If OU and Texas played again Texas would lose if OU and Tech played again Tech would still lose big if Tech and Texas played again Texas would still lose.

I don't have a problem with Texas being ranked higher than OU--right now. If OU beats OSU, they NEED to be higher than Texas. to not do that would be a shame. if they lose, then texas is obviously better. look at their non conference schedules: UT faced florida atlantic, utep, arkansas and rice. OU faced chattanooga, cincinnati, washington and TCU. OU faced 2 bcs teams, UT faced 1. OU faced 2 good teams, UT faced none. and yes, we all know that a loss at the beginning of the year is not as bad as at the end of the year. OU is the best team in the nation right now. they not only beat Tech, they destroyed them. UT is a top 5 team. i hate both teams.

Its silly to even think of OU being in a big bowl again. This 3-way tie is ruining the Big 12. Texas should go to the Big12 Championship and to the NC. You know why they put OU ahead of Texas in the human polls last week? Because they love the SEC and knows that the SEC will get a sure fire win over OU in the NC game. OU can't play the big game.

People need to look at the losses more than the wins. Texas lost to high ranked Texas Tech and lost by a last second touchdown on the road. Oklahoma got man-handled in the second half by Texas (Texas had about twice the amount of time of possesion as Oklahoma). Texas Tech just completely got crushed at Oklahoma. Even though it was an away game, the spread was crazy. If the voters looked more at the losses then the flashy wins against teams that don't matter, they'll make the right choice and pick Texas!

Posted by: tim Location: sherman
Lets put the texas beat ou so Texas should be ahead of OU theory to rest. If that is the case then Tech should be ranked ahead of texas right???

Posted by: eric Location: TX
texas isnt cheerin for OU to lose unless Baylor beats Tech, which Im gonna go on a limb and say prolly isnt goin to happen! If OU loses Tech then holds the head to head advantage over UT. At this point I believe Texas is gonna get screwed! OU needs to play the worst game possible while still winning and Texas needs to dominate A&M....but like I said if Baylor wins there will be no controversy! lol

The big conferences have a pact, a deal. The deal is, if one of the small conference schools comes out of their schedule undefeated and makes it into the BCS, whatever big conference school that has to play them has to humiliate them, to show that an undefeated record out of the smaller conferences is meaningless, overrated. Two years ago, that duty fell to OU when they had to play Boise State, and they let us down. They are on super-secret BCS suspension, which means they have to win all of their games to participate because BCS voters should not give them any breaks for breaking the pact.

Posted by: Sports Authority Let's see here.....Texas defeated Oklahoma in Dallas at a neutal site .....What's the question??

Texas should be higher. Of the three teams in the tiebreaker, Texas was the only one who didn't have a home game. The only game they lost was on the last play at a stadium where OU hasn't won since 2003. It was also the biggest game in Tech's history and a game where Texas lost two of their best players to injury. The argument of "We are playing better now" is the weakest I have ever seen. So you telling me next year if a team loses its first four games, then turns it on and is playing best by the end of the year, they should be in? Why even count the first two months of the season if that is what it is about?

Those two arguments are very good arguments for both. But if the Sooners beat the Cowboys they will jump over the Longhorns, unless some idiot feels that Florida had a better week. Then there is the Big 12 Championship game that would put Oklahoma against Mizz, which shouldn't be a problem. If A&M takes out the Longhorns like previous years this argument will end, unless the Cowboys were to have a good day, then you will see Florida and Alabama in the big game. There will be alot of people on the edge of their seats this week. Oklahoma will be prayin for the Aggies, Texas prayin for the Cowboys, and Florida is prayin for the Cowboys and the Aggies. And Alabama is just prayin that they can win out. What a scenario. Its going to make for some really good football toward the end. Sit back, relax, and lets enjoy. Go Sooners...
