The Mavericks chances to not only make the playoffs, but win a series continue to improve. As I look across the West to see who scares me, the list is down to only two now. 1. L.A. Lakers 2. San Antonio. Beyond that, the Mavs could potentially beat any of the other Western Conference teams in a series.
The Hornets deal that sent Tyson Chandler to Oklahoma City gives me alot more confidence against them. Chris Paul can't just continue to lob it over the top for those slams that still give Erick Dampier nightmares.
**Editors note: The Chandler trade was just reversed because he failed a physical. If Chandler is healthy, the Hornets are once again a team the Mavs would want to avoid.**
The Rockets just lost McGrady for the year. Bring them on.
Utah is tough at home, but I don't think that matchup scares the Mavs. Deron Williams certainly gives them problems, but I think they matchup well across the board against the Jazz.
Denver is solid, but a little soft on defense. They have very little playoff experience outside of Billups. I'm ok with facing the Nugs.
Portland is just so young. They are a dangerous team, but again, I like the Mavs chances there.
Phoenix is just a mess. They're back to running and gunning again, which makes them better. But they still don't play defense.
Just stay away from L.A. and S.A. and we should have quite a first round series, and quite possibly, a 2nd round series too!
