I never really thought Ron Washington's job was in jeopardy, but it's good to hear Nolan Ryan and Jon Daniels say so.  Washington deserves to chance to manage the Rangers through the end of the season.  He has been a good sport about the constant youth movements, building the minor league system, and improving without the use of a significant free agent signing.  He deserves the chance to grow the Rangers into a contender after going through the growing pains.  Your thoughts?

Washington doesn't know how to make a lineup. He gets confused about when to pinch hit, and who to pinch hit for. The Rangers are going in a great direction, but that's because of Jon Daniels. Washington should stick around through the end of the year, but next season when the Rangers are a serious threat, they need a guy that knows baseball. Not a guy that uses bunt too much and makes decisions with his gut that are just awful, and the results tend to be that way as well. I will say that him giving Kinsler the go ahead on initializing the double steal has been fun and successful. But that's about it. Bring Valentine back from Japan!

You say Washington deserves a chance to manage the Rangers through the end of the season, and go on to say why. If the reasons you list are legitimate, then why not say he deserves five more seasons as long as he keeps doing what he has been doing? Washington may or may not deserve more time, but his job security is just a distraction from the lack of truly committed ownership, and a GM that would be better suited to be VP in charge of ticket sales. This franchise carries itself as improvers. Until it decides to carry itself as Champions, they will always be rebuilding. It's an attitude/expectation/result thing. The fans and ownership (and not just the current ownership) not only expect, but support mediocrity. Until the fans stop paying to see nine innings of rebuilding every night, this franchise won't change.

Washington pinch hits for Michael Young in a game. Are you kidding me? Please management get a clue and fire the manager who has no clue.
