Sherman had some really good candidates considering they were trying to make a football hire in July. There's not much not to like about Gary Joe Kinne.  He's a proven winner with playoff experience. He has also coached at the college level, leading the linebackers at Baylor under Guy Morriss. There were some good choices out there with two good ones that had applied from within. Now Kinne must pull together a staff that he inherits and move them in his direction. It will be interesting to see if the Bearcats can all get on the same page by the end of August.

I like coach Kinne I think he will put our players attitude in checks and that is what these young boys need. Keep it up Coach. I am afraid that Heath would have been like Young. Sherman needed change and Kinne is good. Don't let us down.

i dont think sherman could have made a worse choice for a coach than they have in the past.speaking of coach young that man was one of the worst coaches ever(if you can call him a coach)he didnt even know the plays and that game against denison was embarrising why would you play man on man coverage when you know they go to jones 90% of the time just like they do james in sherman.they had a bunch of talent on the sherman football team last season that wasnt even used.speaking of the denison game why would you leave a 230 pound linebacker on the sideline when jones is getting by everyone he had #44 on the sideline all night thats a big kid with pretty good speed but they didnt utilize him or alot moer of the kids with a good coach like kinne he could have taken last seasons bearcats further.i say goodbye and so long coach young and please stay in oklahoma.

I think of all the possible candidates that this was the best hire. I like Jason Heath, and he would have been a good choice as well. But you are right, you can't argue with Kinne's credentials.
