Despite what Jerry and the Sunday Night Football crew tried to convey, this stadium's opening did not culminate with the reinvention of football. It's still played for 60 minutes, between the hashes. And turning over the ball 4 times and taking it away zero times still gets you beat 100 times out of 100.
It's too bad the team still stinks it up when all eyes are on them and the pressure is on. Remember Philadelphia last year? How about when they closed Texas Stadium against Baltimore? Or that 13-3 team that lost at home to the same Giants in the 2007 Playoffs?
...and too bad Tony Romo saved perhaps his worst perfomance in his career for Opening Night. I'm sure Mr. Jones appreciates that.
...and really too bad that Wade "Mr. Fix It" Phillips and his defense- now with even more hand-picked players in Brooking and Olshansky- still struggle generating a pass rush and consistently look lost in pass coverage. Mr. Fix It will be Mr. Pink Slip come mid-January when the Cowboys fail to make the playoffs again.
Enjoy the new stadium, Cowboy fans. It's the only thing you'll be celebrating this year.

update your blog man-the Cowboys won and they played the Saints, 24-17 was the score but your right about Tony oh--no I just blew it Romo what is he a real guarter back or a scratch golfer, pick I wish hed just pick one cause that seems all he can handle enjoy the weather kids Merry Christmas. Posted by: Happy Joe Location: Durant So sad. Posted by: Janet Location: Ardmore Well I saw a lot of Butterfingers today. That sucks. Will they ever be Americas' team again? Not playing like they have been playing. I hate it when my friends refer to them as Cowgirls instead of Cowboys. Posted by: Jerrald Location: ardmore If they get rid of TONY ROMO they will win more games. Thats why he was not drafted out of college because he is terrible. Posted by: Ralph Location: Denison It should be clear to everyone why the Cowboys lost. The blame needs to be placed squarely on the shoulders of T.O....again. Posted by: ed Location: sherman haha okay first off the D was just okay. ya, they shut down the runningbacks, but they didn't stop eli with his, can we say less than proven, WR's. it doesn't help that romo throws to guys that are in double coverage, and gets it intercepted. I mean how do you lose when you have jones, barber, crayton, austin, and witten. Come on, you lose when you have jason witten to throw to? wow. i know kids in high school who could win with those guys. The team with the most talent in the nfl can't win. If they plan on playing like that then i can't wait for the eagles to roll over them. Posted by: Tito Are you obtuse? The Cowboys defense was okay, not the problem at all. They gave up passing yards because they contained the run. They prevented the Giants from scoring TD's in the red zone time and time again. They couldn't help that Romo kept giving the Giants opportunity after opportunity. The pick 6 doesn't count against the D, the Jones fumble after return, the Romo pass behind Witten that got kicked and intercepted. The defense cannot be asked to stop them over and over and over when starting out in bad position. Overall, for Dallas to turn the ball over that much and adjust their run defense after the debacle in TB is a good sign that they only lost by 2. |

You would have thought a Roman gladiator was going to come out of the tunnel onto the midfield star to play quarterback last night the way NBC and Jerry Jones overloaded our senses with the awe, glitze, and glare, of the new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. Instead, America was treated to another episode of Tony Romo: Buckling Under Pressure.
