Today, revelations came forward regarding New England Pro Bowl tight end Aaron Hernandez. Those revelations? That he had been arrested for murder.
Hernandez was immediately released by the Patriots, and booked in jail with no bail. It is alleged Hernandez killed his buddy, Odin Lloyd, after a dispute at a night club. That dispute? Lloyd was talking to someone Hernandez "didn't get along with."
I'm a firm believer in the legal system's credo of "innocent until proven guilty" and of course will take that system at its word if Hernandez is exonerated, but if he is guilty of these heinous crimes, he should, and probably will be, put away for life.
If the accusations are true, it's unfortunately another cautionary tale of a man, like Hernandez, who is clearly blessed with athletic talent, plenty of money, a fiancee and child, being willing to throw it all away to prove some silly point. And for kids, this could be a textbook lesson of exactly what NOT to do, if you're blessed with such gifts.
