Change is in the Air for the Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have missed the postseason. Again.

The Dallas Cowboys have missed the postseason. Again.

For some cynical Cowboys fans, this seems to come to as no surprise. But as a new Texoman, I really thought this team had it in them. I thought Tony Romo wouldn't choke, and saw a Dez Bryant who was a legitimate play maker. That was not the case.

No matter now though, Jerry Jones is going to make some changes. We have no idea of what exactly they'll be, but Jerry does not like to lose. And the Cowboys have done a lot more of that than he would prefer since their Super Bowl days in the 90's.

Jerry said things are about to become "uncomfortable" over at Valley Ranch, and that some changes will be made. The way he talked, though, it looked like head coach Jason Garrett is sticking around, but there may be a new play caller brought in.

One of the names thrown around as an offensive coordinator for the Cowboys is Norv Turner. Norv Turner, a punching bag of sorts his last couple of years in San Diego, would be a fantastic choice. The problem with Norv hasn't been his lack of prowess as an offensive coordinator, but his inability to take the teams he is head coach of to their full potential. And Norv is a nice little throwback to when the Cowboys did win back to back Super Bowls in 1992 and 1993.

Some people probably think Jerry needs to relinquish his GM duties, but Jerry's made it very clear, that will not be happening.

If you ask me, the Cowboys do need a new play caller. And they need a change in personnel, Especially on their offensive line. As far as Tony Romo goes, I think he gets one more year with Dallas. If he continues to choke in the big games, even with a potentially beefed up O-line, the Cowboys need to switch things up.

It won't be a happy offseason for the Cowboys, but as always, you can count on whatever Jerry cooks up occupying a lot of space on the sports pages this winter.
