The Cleveland Browns just announced that they will go with Colt McCoy for the rest of the season. Brilliant. Why wouldn't they? They have nothing to play for other than to try and figure out if Colt can play, and be their quarterback of the future.
The Cowboys drafted McGee hoping that at the very least, he could be their Jon Kitna of the future. It's time to find out. The Cowboys have three games left and nothing to play for. It has been a long time since the Cowboys have been completely out of the playoff picture. If there is any advantage to this situation it is to evaluate the guys that wouldn't ordinarily get on the field.
Not only should they play McGee, but we should see guys like Tashard Choice, Sam Young, Barry Church, and Bryan McCann.
I realize that the NFL doesn't work that way. Jason Garrett is coaching for a job. Some of the veterans are too. But Jerry Jones should order McGee onto the field. It's time to find out if they have a quarterback of the future, or just another missed draft pick.
