Draft night has arrived, and the Dallas Mavericks could actually find an impact player this year. It has been awhile since the Mavs found a strong contributor in the draft, but since they are picking at 17, they need to get this right.
This is considered a deep draft. There will be good players available when the Mavericks' number comes up. Donnie Nelson says there will be some quality point guards and this is a strong year for big men as well. Dallas simply needs to draft the best basketball player available when it's their turn to pick. Since they have basically depleted their roster to play for salary cap space, they have become a team that needs just about everything.
Like everyone else, I have my preferences. If available I like the following players as potential Maverick targets:
Terrence Jones - PF - Kentucky
Arnett Moultrie - PF - Mississippi St.
Terrence Ross - SG - Washington
Jeremy Lamb - SG - UConn
Kendall Marshall - PG - UNC
Austin Rivers - SG - Duke
