Michael Young got his feelings hurt. The Rangers should want the face of their franchise to stay and be content. Lock these two in a room until they come up with a solution.
I understand Young's side. He's a ballplayer. He believes he can still play in the infield. He played on this team through the hard times and feels like after all the dues he has paid, he should reap some rewards.
I understand the Rangers side. They are trying to field the best possible team. Defensively, that likely includes leaving Young out of the infield. They don't want to run off the face of the team, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
There's a simple solution it seems. The Rangers should make sure Young gets his at-bats, gets a fair share of utility infield duty, and do everything it takes to assure Young that he is a part of the present and the future of the Rangers. Young needs to accept his role, and realize that being a part of a winner as a role is better than playing 3rd base for the 70 win Astros.
Bottom line... get it done. Work it out. There's plenty of playing time and cash to go around. Just get the egos out of the way and all will be fine.
