The Dallas Cowboys pitifully ended their 2011 season Sunday night with a lackluster effort against the New York Giants with a division title and trip to the playoffs on the line. Dallas failed to show up for their biggest game of the year, falling behind 21-0 in the first half.

Giants QB Eli Manning exposed perhaps the weakest area of the Cowboys' flawed roster Sunday night, zeroing in on the secondary, and almost exclusively the aging, underwhelming cornerback Terence Newman. T-New was repeatedly torched by Manning and Giants WR phenom Victor Cruz, who beat Newman and the Cowboys again and again.

As easy as it would be to point a finger at Newman and other disappointments on the Cowboys' defense, not all of the blame can be placed on these players. Newman, whose career is winding down and has obviously lost a step or two, was rewarded and paid like a top corner by the team's owner and general manager.

Look around the Cowboys' roster and you will find several player like Newman, who at one time showed a flash of what they could become and were almost immediately rewarded with long contract extensions and lucrative signing bonuses (See WR Miles Austin, OT Doug Free, S Gerald Sensabaugh, CB Mike Jenkins, and perhaps most baffling, 3rd CB Orlando Scandrick).

Any other general manager in pro sports would have been fired years ago by ownership, but because we all know owner Jerry Jones will never fire GM Jerry Jones, we Cowboy fans are left to suffer year after year after year after year...

And despite the team's failures over the past decade and a half, the Cowboys continue to be one of pro sports' most profitable franchises with ticket and merchandise sales. As a Cowboys fan, I can only offer this plea to you loyal and tortured souls like myself:

Stop buying tickets.

Stop buying merchandise.

Hell, even boycott events held at his fancy billion dollar palace.

Hit Jones, the man who fired Tom Landry, where it counts - his bank accounts - and maybe he'll get the message.

As Cowboys fans, it's really our only hope.
