During my time in Texas, which has been about 19 combined years, I've learned a few things. It's typicall really hot, the weather is still unpredictable, and most people don't care for the sport of hockey. I've picked up that vibe during my time in Texoma as well.
Now if you're reading this and do appreciate the sport of hockey, wonderful. If not, just take a quick second to read on.
I by no means am an avid hockey fan. It's difficult, as hockey doesn't have much of a presence, outside of the Stars, in the south. But last night I decided to tune in to game one of the Stanley Cup. And what a treat it was.
What awaited me was a triple overtime thriller, in which the Blackhawks beat the Bruins 4-3. The excitement from all those fans was contagious, and it was pretty amazing getting to see those players leave it all out on the Ice for an equivalent of nearly two games. As much as a I used to laugh off hockey, I actually kind of enjoyed tuning in. The work those guys put in to get a goal makes every one seem pretty darn amazing.
I'm not saying to become the world's most ardent hockey fan, because I probably won't either. But if you enjoy sports enough to be reading this blog and you aren't at least tuning in to some of the Stanley Cup, you're selling yourself short. So go out an enjoy a new sport, and if you find out who Chelsea Dagger is, let me know.
