Thunder Up!

Maybe we got it wrong, maybe when we heard the "Big Three" of the Miami Heat claim, "Not 1, not 2, not 3, championships," maybe all along it was none. Because if the Thunder is the new dynasty everyone believes they are, then the Heat won't be winning for a long time.

It would not surprise me to see these two back at next year, could you imagine? Lebron trying to recover after losing his third NBA Finals, Kevin Durant being empowered with the new closer role and trying to repeat. The storylines could be endless.

I have to admit. I didn't believe. I didn't believe the Thunder would be able to make here. Just like several others, who won't admit it, I was blinded by the Spurs winning ways. I mean, a team that hasn't lost in over a month has to mean something. It did, not once during that win streak did they meet up with the Thunder.

I watched a team grow up, evolve into a champion. I thought Russell Westbrook would be the destruction of this team, but he's been the opposite. Giving it up to Durant when it's closing time and watching greatness come to life.

This NBA finals is a great example of "doing it the right way versus doing it the quick way." Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh coming together over a summer and deciding to join up. A quick solution to compete for a NBA title. And the Thunder or SuperSonics, that drafted a standout freshman in Kevin Durant, and then taking a point-guard in Russell Westbrook the following year, before moving to Oklahoma City. The talent slowing coming together over the years, from making the playoffs for the first time in 2010, to then losing to the eventual NBA champions in the Western Finals, and now the NBA Finals. You tend to appreciate it more.
