Heat eased a bit Monday but the expectation of a true "cool down" is coming up short. We can thank the stubborn high aloft (which has been nearby all month) for continuing the very hot weather.

10 is about the average per year.
August 2006 is now easily the hottest since the brutal heat of 2006. Given the pattern, we're going to be close to exceeding even that value sometime by next this week, if this heat keeps up.
Sherman failed to reach 100 Sunday for only the second time this month. Many locations over the northern Half of Texoma, like Ada and Ardmore, stayed below 100 Monday as a result of the frontal passage.
