100+ Streaks End: City-by-City Report

UPDATE: 11 August 2011 A complex of thunderstorms brought rain-cooled air into Texoma Thursday, ending the 100+ streak for all locations. Finally!
2011 will very likely end up as the hottest summer on record for Texoma, with the daily average now more than 2 degrees ahead of 1980, and less than three weeks until the end of “meteorological summer” at the end of August.
The reference point for this heat wave has been the North Texas Regional Airport in Sherman, which set a new record of 21 consecutive 100-degree days as of August 10. Many other Texoma locations have had nearly twice as many, because Sherman reached only 99 degrees on July 20th. While this may seem nitpicky, weather records in Dallas, Oklahoma City and throughout the nation are recorded in this same manner.
Several other Texoma locations also had breaks in the string of 100-or-better days, including Gainesville and Atoka.
Elsewhere in Texoma, here is a listing of when the longest consecutive 100+ streaks on record began by city:

Take Care,
