Stormy Again April 7th Thru 11th...

April 4, 2008

An active jet stream pattern will dominate the period of April 7th through April 11th. Several upper trough/surface cold front combinations will make for shower/thunderstorm chances almost every day during the period. Since the Friday (April 4) cold front will not penetrate very far into the Gulf, a rich moisture supply will have little trouble returning northward to Texoma with just a day of moderate southerly winds, which are expected Monday.

Some of the expected storms will have the potential to become severe. The more intense system is expected Thursday when a sharp upper trough and stronger cold front is expected.  April and May are historically the peak months for severe weather…and it looks like we’ll see a continued active pattern as we have during the past few weeks.

In the meantime…enjoy the nice weekend!

Take Care,

Steve LaNore

Chief Meteorologist

Super Job last night Steve. Thank you for your coverage of the storm and the excellent tracking. I have been threatened by 2 F5s (May 3 as one, 1/4 mile from my home) in the past and know last night could of been the birth of another F5. I lived in San Antonio when the F5 went through Jarrell, TX Tornado from May 27. The tornadoes in San Antonio from the same storm only had a small scroll at the bottom of the tv for a tornado warning (not watch). The location program was never interrupted as to explain the seriousness of the storm. Your service is much appreciated, Chris

Hi Steve. It's springtime in Texomaland...pretty common I'd say! Great to chat with you last week, and I look forward to doing it again some time! Bob Cosby
