It is still looking to be just as the map shows above...but the heat will extend to Tuesday or Wednesday before abating somewhat as the ridge breaks down. Hottest temperatures Sunday and Monday will be close to records. An upper trough, along with surface a low-pressure wave moving into Texas from the Gulf, should bring "cooler" weather and a chance of at least a few showers late in the week.

OK...It's not exactly the mystery of the week that August will begin with numbers on the high side, but one can always hope.
Get ready for a toasty start to the new month as high pressure builds in August 2-3. Temperatures will once again climb to around 100-102 this weekend, and it will be quite humid. The high should continue shifting eastward, which may open the door to another trough…and rain chances…by August 7th.
As we move into late summer, we know historically that the hottest days will only be around a few more weeks. According to Texoma climate records, summer temperatures begin slowly decreasing after August 15th.
Take Care...and please be careful when out in this heat for long periods of time!
