UPDATE: 18 December Please see my new blog entitled Alaskan Cold" for further updates on the weather through Christmas.

UPDATE: 15 December, 9:40p.m.
The ice will melt away by Wednesday as southerly winds return. Another blast of cold...which looks to be equally frigid...should arrive over the weekend.
Frozen precipitation with the weekend cold shot is up in the air at this point (sorry for the pun!)...stay tuned.

Wintry Pattern In Place…. 14 December 2008
The period from December 15th to right before Christmas looks to be a cold one.
Several ” bubbles” of arctic air will be surging southward as upper level winds blow with a north to south component. The coldest batch will probably show up around the 20th.
While some frozen precipitation may take place through the 17th, it is expected to be light at this time.
This will be an evolving pattern and I will post updates as this whole thing ebbs and flows.
