April 20, 2006: San Marcos, TX
The worst hailstorm in San Marcos history dropped hail up to grapefruit size. The hail core passed right over the sprawling San Marcos outlet mall, severely damaging thousands of cars and many of the buildings. Over 10,000 vehicles and hundreds of buildings were badly pounded. Damage was $100 million dollars!
April 20, 2004: Peru, Illinois
AN EF-3 tornado cut right through the middle of town; some of those who sought refuge from the storm chose the basement of a turn -of-the-century sandstone building, which collapsed onto the people below. Eight were killed here and seven more injured. The tornado was approximately 250 yards wide at this point. Hundreds of buildings suffered moderate to major damage.
April 20, 2003: Columbus, OH
A large hailstorm pelted Ohio’s capital Columbus with golfball size hail. Damage was especially high: $145million.
