As we move into the latter portions of July, we are met with some good weather news. The ridge that brought two weeks of very hot weather to Texoma the first half of the month is unlikely to return any time soon.

The long-range computer output continues to show a pronounced upper level flow out of the north and northwest, with the ridge and the hottest weather over the desert southwest. This type of low favors thunderstorm formation upstream over the higher elevations of west Texas/OK/Colorado. The steering winds then push these storm complexes towards us.

Along with this, weak “waves” of energy will occasionally move overhead during the next week, making for further rain opportunities.
