The weekend is shaping to be one of heavy to excessive rainfall. The map included here is from the HPC, which is charge of predicting precipitation. Notice the eastern half of Texoma is in an area of 3-6" of rain.
There is a very strong signal in all of the models for this heavy rain scenario. The mechanics include several slow-moving upper waves, deep tropical moisture, and a stalled front. These point to significant flooding potential Saturday through Monday.
This situation hinges on these features lining up as expected; the main upper low driving this is likely to be in place Sunday. If this feature moves further east that expected then the heavy rain potential will be reduced. Since all of the models are quite consistent and we’re only 2-3 days away from the event, confidence is high it’s going to rain a lot this weekend in Texoma.
So it’s going to be a soggy weekend unless something veers way off from the expected path.
