October: A Wild Ride for the Next Week

It’s going to be a wild weather ride in Texoma during the next week. Strong to severe storms October 1 along a cold front will be replaced by beautiful fall weather for Friday the 2nd and Saturday 3rd.

Skies will then turn cloudy and rainy again Sunday the 4th and perhaps for several days into next week.
All of this courtesy of an active jet stream pattern with embedded upper lows (map) . October is the second wettest of the year in Texoma (just barely behind May) and it seems as though it will up to its billing if the next week offers any clue to what’s headed our way.
Since we are moving further into an El Nino pattern, the odds favor several wet months ahead.
Take Care,
Steve LaNore
Chief Meteorologist

All I know is, I go to bed one night with it raining cats and dogs, and when I wake up the next morning it's as if I slept two months, and it's now December. No snow (that's all stayed up north), but it is a mite cool.

Hey Steve, our wedding is outdoors at Big Mineral next weekend. Anything you could do to make it a perfect Saturday evening would be greatly appreciated. I will be sending offerings to the weather gods myself. (This is all in good fun, and just a joke, except we really are having an outdoor wedding at Big Mineral Saturday Oct. 17) Thanks for your years of great service!

steve - thanks so much for your blogs, the question: several wet months ahead, does that mean we will have a cold, wet winter this year?

I had thought the low that was generating this cold front was centered farther north and that we're on the tail end of it. I guess we'll see what we get tomorrow.
