Texoma will enjoy mild but windy weather through mid-week, as the next upper level and surface low pressure zones take shape.

Showers and thunderstorms can be expected to form by Wednesday as the upper trough shown (map) and a cold front interact with deepening moisture from southerly surface flow. This rain may linger into Thursday depending on how much energy feeds into the backside of the trough.

Another factor that bears watching is hurricane “Rick”, as its remnants moves northeastward into Texas late in the week. By then, the upper level winds will probably steer most of this to our east and south, but it bears watching.

If the front or upper level features move slower than expected, then the moisture from Rick would be pulled further northward, boosting Texoma’s potential for heavy rainfall.

It looks like an interesting weather week ahead.
