Ida: Indirect effect on Texoma?

Tropical Storm “Ida” steadily gained strength during Saturday, November 7 (see image above). The National Hurricane Center says its maximum sustained winds were at 70mph at 9pm Texoma time November 7.

The storm may briefly reach Category 1 hurricane status before increasing vertical wind shear begins to impact the storm.

It will be rather windy along the Gulf coast due to the interaction between “Ida” and high pressure over the Ohio Valley.

All of this action should stay to the south and east of Texoma, but northeasterly winds on the backside of the tropical storm will serve to keep the moisture supply rather skimpy ahead of our Monday/Tuesday cold front.

So I am not expecting a heavy rain event this go-round. Sunny and mild weather should return by Wednesday.

Have a great week!
