January is turning out to be one of those weird weather months. After the most intense cold spell in more than 10 years, we’re facing spring-like warmth for the period Jan 18-22. The deep eastern trough which brought the bitterly cold air into Texoma is gone, and has been replaced with a west to east steering wind pattern (maps below).
This scenario will be filled with little waves riding along in the jet stream; each one will bring a chance of thunderstorms through the week.

Previous pattern which brought near-record cold to Oklahoma and Texas was much more amplified (north to south).
Pattern expected for Jan 18-22 features fast-moving short waves and mild air / GFS model
