UPDATE: Fri 16 April / 3pm
A Flood Watch has been posted along and west of a Grayson-Carter County line through Sunday. While I expect all of Texoma to get rain over the weekend, heaviest amounts should generally be west of a Celina-Sherman-Atoka line. Be sure and tune in the Megan's weekend updates and of course updated web discussions in the forecast section too!
April has been quite dry so far with most locations having under an inch of rain since the 1st.
That will be changing as we head into the weekend.
An upper ridge has provided stable weather for a number of days for Texoma, and most of the southern U.S. This feature is slowly weakening and will be replaced by a pattern of weak troughs moving by.
A large upper low along the U.S./Canadian border is creating strong enough pressure rises to force a cold front southward into Texoma this weekend. Rain chances are expected to move upward as it gets closer. .
The steering currents driving this front in the mid levels of the atmosphere may be feeble enough to allow it stall nearby. This could make for more rain mid-spring weather into next week.
