Top 10 Hottest Junes: Heat To Continue

The astronomical start of summer, the Summer Solstice, takes place at 6:28a.m. Texoma time on Monday, June 21st.
However, summer usually starts from a weather perspective around June 1 each year, and that's certainly been true for Texoma in 2010.
So matter when you believe summer started, it will definitely be running full bore (hotter than average), probably through the end of the month.

A welcome (but brief) break from the heat allowed all of Texoma to receive some rainfall June 14-15.
Many spots were in the 1-2” range for the 2-day event.
An upper high resumes its hot grip on the southern U.S. including Texoma; daytime highs will run in the mid to upper 90s within this sinking air mass. This means a lot of sunshine too. Average mid-June highs should be around 90, so we will run 4-8 degrees above this on any given day. This is similar to what we saw the first half of the month.
Heat Index values will likely be 98-103 each afternoon. Please pace yourself and drink plenty of water (or non alcoholic fluids) if you’re going to be out in the hotter part of the afternoon.
