4th of July Holiday Weather Outlook

UPDATE: Thu 1 July 2010 / 3:45pm

No changes to my previous thinking: scattered but heavy rain pockets through the weekend. A fresh outlook will be posted Friday.

UPDATE: Wed 30 June 2010 /3:45pm

No big changes to Tuesday's reasoning: scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected each afternoon with daytime heating. The maximum chances in my current outlook are Saturday and Sunday when the deepest moisture should be present.

==================================================================

The Independence Day Holiday weekend is one of the biggest outdoor times of the year.  Of course we’re talking fireworks, barbecues, hanging out at the park, the lake, and so forth, as we celebrate the greatest nation on Earth!

Well, this weekend will be one to watch closely from a weather perspective. While “Alex” remains hundreds of miles south of us, the large circulation associated with it will interact with a developing surface high over the eastern United States to create a very moist inflow through Texoma skies.

UPDATE: I’m keeping the rain prospects in the 40%-50% range.

    I think its bull crap that they postponed the fireworks show over at the old lodge because of a few sprinlkes they say but the real reason is the other fireworks show over on the texas side... that is the real reason... everyone showed up and no show. Made everyone waste gas and time ... they should have went on with the show like planned it was a stupid decision by stupid people... it will probably rain more tomorrow evening than this evening then what are they going to do .... postpone it again... I always go to that show but if these people cant do any better than this then i should go to choctaw tomorrow night instead...

    Joe, The rain will be scattered in nature but since moisture content will be very high, any storms that form could put down an inch or two in an hour. Rain chances will be in the 30%-40% range...Steve

    Do you think there is a chance that the moisture from Alex will get caught up in the flow and give us a lot of rain this weekend?
