A Warmer Start to April: No Foolin'...

March will end on a chilly note as continental air continues to flow through the southern Plains Tuesday-Thursday.

A quick-warm up greets the beginning of April as highs rise into the 70s…and perhaps 80s…this weekend. Unfortunately, gusty winds will return as well, and the air will be fairly dry. This will make for dangerous fire weather conditions.

Severe drought now grips all of Texoma. Below normal rainfall is expected into the first half of April, and the long-range outlook from the National Center for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) is for drier than average conditions into early summer (at least).

Dear Anonymous....Yes, I hear lots of crazy stuff here and there too...but most of it is 10% truth and 90% exaggeration. Such seems to be the case this time as well. A freeze looks rather unlikely next week. I can't say it won't happen...but the odds are very low. Tuesday morning would be the one to watch behind a moderately strong cold front...but indications are we'll stay in the 40 degree range for overnight lows. Dewpoints do not look low enough, and the wind will probably be too strong to allow cooling to freezing. Take Care, Steve
