Drought Update: Feb 15, 2013
The second week of February brought two rainfall events to Texoma, but the amounts were far short of what was needed to make any significant dent in the drought (discussion continues below map).

In fact, much of Texoma has moved deeper into the drought over the past few weeks; about 80% of the area is now in the second highest drought category of "extreme", while areas from Sherman south and east are classified as "severe".
Windy weather in the week ahead makes for very high fire danger, and all outdoor burning should be avoided on days with winds of 15 mph or greater.
