Frost/Freeze for Fri Morning

UPDATE: Winds will stay up into Thursday morning so the risk of frost or a freeze is reduced; it's much more likely Friday morning when winds go light under a clear sky.
===============================================

A batch of chilly air is headed south from Canada, and will likely bring freezing overnight lows back into our forecast. The front dividing this colder air from the milder air in front of it blows through Wednesday with gusty north winds.

This is not brutally cold arctic air, but polar. There’s not much snowcover in this air mass’ path, so that should help it to modify quite a bit as it heads our way.

Thursday and Friday will be cold mornings in the 30s. The coldest morning will likely be Friday when we have the lightest winds and lowest dewpoints. Lows on Friday morning should range mid 20s to low 30s.

Keep the blanket handy!

    Joe, Thanks for your question. We're getting out towards "flip a coin" mode beyond 10 days. I see the blocking pattern you refer to, but we need to get the western ridge to shift further east to steer that type of cold in here. So I believe the Greenland block will only provide glancing blows 'o cold and our "arctic vigil" should be N & W. In fact, most of the models keep it rather mild at the end of the month. This is even if it gets cold for Thanksgiving. Of course, I wouldn't trust any model out more than 6 or 7 days anyway -:) Take Care, Steve

    Hey Steve, Looks like the Greenland Block will be setting up the next few weeks. Are we too far west to be affected by the Artic Air, or will we have a real cold end of month and beginning of December?
