Another round of soaking rainfall graced Texoma soils and lakes Jan 9-10. As the maps below show, most locations received at least an inch of precipitation with many spots in the 1-1/2” to 2” range:
The drought has gradually eased during the past few months - the soil moisture has been replenished to such an extent as to almost completely remove the eastern half of Texoma from a drought configuration. An area of “slight drought” extends from Atoka to Madill to Whitesboro eastward.
Areas west of this line area still in a moderate, but steadily improving, drought situation. The easternmost portions of Texoma in Choctaw and Pushmataha counties were recently declared to be completely out of the drought.
