The unusually wet pattern we enjoyed in January and February helped erase the drought that plagued Texoma for the summer and fall of 2011. However, March 2012 is shaping up to be drier than the past few months on both sides of the Red River.

A consistent “parade” of mid-level lows brought ample opportunities for rainfall in Jan-Feb and frequent changes in temperature too:

Now, a shift in the steering flow points toward a stronger ridge over the western United States. The ridge diverts the troughs northward, favoring drier weather here:

This is a general outlook and does not speak to an individual storm or day where it might rain. However, it does point to a higher probability of drier times ahead.
