The rainfall numbers for March tell a story of an increasingly severe drought over Texoma. We share this problem with large portions of Texas and Oklahoma.
The maps below show March rainfall coming in at only a paltry fraction of the average, which should range from 2.70” at Ardmore to about 3” in Ada, and 3.40” in Sherman and Durant (discussion continues below map).
The long-range forecast for April suggests warmer and drier than average conditions will dominate. This is partially thanks to unseasonably strong high pressure aloft, which will tend to divert most of the storms to our north.
