November 2010: Another Dry Month for Texoma

November has been a mild month with the average daily temperature 3.6 degrees above the long-term average. This places November 2010 in the top 20 warmest but nowhere near the record.

It has also been a dry month with most areas seeing less than half of the long-term average. The 30-year average rainfall for November ranges from almost 4” from Sherman to Antlers to just 2” around Healdton.

Here are the numbers by city and percentage of normal rainfall:

City-by-City Rainfall and Comparison to Normal, Nov. 2010
Location Nov 2010 Rainfall Percentage of Normal
Ada 1.11 44%
Antlers 1.83 49%
Atoka 1.61 55%
Ardmore 1.81 79%
Bonham  3.23 83%
Durant 2.62 89%
Gainesville 0.37 16%
Hugo 2.83 76%
Madill 1.24 47%
Marietta 1.38 60%
Paris 3.90 97%
Sherman-Denison 1.32 35%
Sulphur-Davis 3.16 137% **
Tishomingo 1.59 61%

**Highest compared to normal.

Drier and milder than normal conditions can be expected to persist as we enter the first few weeks of winter. I speak of the average only; a snow or ice event could happen, but forecasting it more than a few days out is more luck than science.
