Rounds of showers and thunderstorms brought a lot of rain to Texoma March 19-20, and in some cases it was just too much in a short period of time. Many area creeks were at bank full. The Kiamichi River will rise to just short of the May 1990 record Wednesday (March 21) because of 5-8” rains over much of its watershed.

Texoma area lakes rose significantly from the heavy runoff. Lake Texoma went up more than a foot in 24 hours, and Hugo Lake rose more than 4 feet in a single day from the Kiamichi River inflow.

A drier weather pattern emerges for the weekend of March 24-25 allowing the Red River Valley to dry out from the soaking rainfall.
